About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Organ Recovery Surgeon to join our team at New England Donor Services (NEDS). As a key member of our organ donation team, you will play a critical role in saving lives through the gift of organ and tissue donation.

Responsibilities
  • Perform surgical dissection, removal, and preparation of abdominal organs recovered from deceased donors for transplantation and research.
  • Assess the medical suitability of deceased donors and ensure that organ recovery procedures meet national standards and NEDS policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff to manage the donor hospital recovery process and ensure high-quality surgical recovery services.
  • Participate in quality review of donors and contribute to the mission of NEDS to increase the availability of organs suitable for transplantation.
  • Travel extensively within New England to donor hospitals to perform organ recoveries and participate in operational efficiencies.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and residency program.
  • Minimum three years' experience as a surgeon performing Donation after Brain Death (DBD) and Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD) organ recoveries or transplant operations in the United States.
  • Licensed physician in one of the 6 New England states with an unrestricted and unlimited license to practice medicine.
