Position Overview:
As a Law Enforcement Officer, you will perform essential police and custodial duties in alignment with the mission and objectives of the department, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to requests for police assistance from the community and coordinate with appropriate personnel.
- Conduct routine patrols to identify and address potential crime-related situations.
- Perform preliminary and thorough investigations of suspected law violations, gathering and verifying information from involved parties.
- Assess probable cause and take necessary action to detain suspects and offenders.
- Document all incidents and investigations in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Provide factual testimony in court regarding observations and investigations of criminal activities.
- Execute civil and court processes as required.
- Engage in community service initiatives and respond to inquiries from the public.
- Commit to professional development by enhancing both academic and practical law enforcement skills.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Fulfill the physical demands of the role while adhering to established working conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and possess the ability to read and write in English.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A valid Washington State Driver's License is mandatory.
Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with applicable laws and regulations, police service principles, modern investigative techniques, evidence handling, and emergency service protocols is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to think critically under pressure, communicate effectively, and adapt to rapidly changing situations.
Certification Requirements:
Candidates must possess current certification from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission or an equivalent certification from another state-approved law enforcement academy.
