About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Services Director to join our team at Ascension. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and strategies for the social services function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Direct the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and strategies for the social services function.
  • Departmental Goals and Planning: Develop departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements and objectives of the organization.
  • Staffing and Development: Plan, organize, and direct all activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Financial Management: Prepare departmental budgets and ensure that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
  • Quality and Compliance: Direct and evaluate all services provided, including care plan development, service level determination, and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Resident Safety: Assure resident safety by identifying safety hazards and emergency situations and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management, or Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Education: BS or MS in Social Work highly preferred.
  • Long-Term Care Experience: 3 years of long-term care skilled nursing home experience highly preferred.
  • Licensure: Licensed Social Worker in the state of New York preferred.
