Job Summary:

The Chief of Physics will provide leadership for the coordination of clinical care delivery for radiation oncology patients in the Kentuckiana region. This role will collaborate with the Oncology Program Director and Medical Directors to provide administrative leadership of Louisville and Eastpoint radiation centers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for coordination of clinical care delivery for radiation oncology patients.
  • Collaborates with the Oncology Program Director and Medical Directors to provide administrative leadership of radiation centers.
  • Collaborates with Radiation Oncology preferred vendors on equipment purchases and upgrades.
  • Oversees Process Improvement initiatives for the Kentuckiana region.
  • Liaison to maintain line of communication between physicists, therapists, physicians, and administrative staff.
  • Participates in treatment planning for cancer patients under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Reviews daily output/dose measurements, maintenance reports, and monthly calibration of therapy equipment.
  • Oversees the installation of new equipment and acceptance testing of same.
  • Establishes overall quality assurance mechanisms used in the department.
  • Organizes and leads physics and dosimetry processes for the Kentuckiana region.
  • Responsibility for physics-related policies and procedures for all Radiation departments.

Requirements:

  • MS in therapeutic medical physics or medical radiation physics.
  • Board Certified in Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology.
  • Minimum 4-5 years clinical experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of computerized treatment planning systems, treatment machines, and accessories.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of all aspects of medical radiation physics.
  • Flexible to be on call weekends and holidays, and to work above standard hours to meet staffing needs.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
