Our flagship project, Haven-1, is set to become the first commercial space station, launching into low earth orbit.
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering - Avionics, who will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Avionics. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical design and integration of electronic enclosures, assemblies, and cable harnesses for our spacecraft and support systems.
This position is a full-time, exempt role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a dedicated team focused on vehicle components and subsystems, from initial requirements through to installation. Assign projects to team leads and project managers, ensuring alignment between project demands and team capabilities.
- Ensure adherence to standards, processes, and tools for complex avionics enclosure design, analysis, and harnessing.
- Foster team growth and development, including performance management, training, career progression, recruitment, and mentorship.
- Engage in both managerial and technical aspects, providing significant input, guidance, and oversight on team deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Demonstrated experience in managing technical teams and leading functional groups, with accountability for the quality of work and employee development.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, electronic hardware packaging, and analysis or testing for various structural and thermal evaluations.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience in designing robust electronic enclosures and cable harnesses for aerospace, commercial aviation, or other high-performance applications in regulated industries.
- Proficiency in establishing uniform procedures and methodologies.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, manage multiple tasks effectively, and be self-directed.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, including executive management, procurement, production, quality assurance, and materials processes.
- Mentor and guide engineers and technicians.
Compensation:
Salary range is competitive and will vary based on knowledge, education, skills, experience, and market demand.
