This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Network Engineer to join J5 Consulting as part of our team in the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA).

About the Role:

We are seeking a talented individual with experience in network engineering, including designing, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting routing and switching systems on Cisco and Juniper equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of TCP/IP protocol suite, IP subnet masking, and routing protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide network engineering support in a fast-paced environment, identifying and resolving network issues as needed;
  • Design and implement L2 and L3 VPNs across an MPLS network;
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve operational excellence and maintain high-quality network performance;
  • Develop and implement network security measures, including firewalls and Access Control Lists (ACL);
  • Utilize Microsoft Visio for network topology creation and modification;
  • Monitor networks and analyze data to identify performance issues;
  • Maintain and repair identified issues.

Requirements:

  • Active or past Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Network Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP) certifications;
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple vendors, including Cisco and Juniper;
  • Proven track record of delivering network infrastructure projects on time and within budget;
  • Familiarity with US Government security requirements and policies;
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional travel required.
