Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Food and Nutritional Clerk, under the guidance of the FANS Management Team, is responsible for timely and accurate completion of cashiering, clerical, and administrative tasks. This role involves processing diet orders, managing menus, and addressing patient requests. The FANS Clerk also performs various functions as a cashier, server, and short order cook, consistently delivering exceptional customer service.

Clerical and Administrative Duties:

  • Prepares and adjusts patient menus according to dietary needs and nutritional guidelines.
  • Records special food item requests following departmental procedures.
  • Communicates relevant patient care information to appropriate staff.
  • Maintains essential records, including meal counts and patient lists.
  • Ensures timely availability of menus for meal service.
  • Handles diet changes efficiently to support meal service operations.
  • Maintains safety by ensuring visibility of Wet Floor signs and clear hallways.
  • Completes additional assigned tasks as needed.

Cashier Responsibilities:

  • Operates the cash register, managing transactions and balancing cash after each meal service.
  • Provides courteous and efficient service to visitors and staff.
  • Explains menu items as needed and ensures proper storage of leftovers.
  • Prepares the service area, including stocking condiments and ensuring food temperature compliance.
  • Prepares daily items for cafeteria service and maintains cleanliness of work areas.
  • Records refrigerator temperatures and reports any food shortages to supervisors.
  • Utilizes food service equipment safely and effectively.
Qualifications

A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience in healthcare food and nutrition services, as well as clerical experience, is also preferred.
