Job Summary
Hartford HealthCare (HHC) is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join our team in providing high-quality, patient-centered care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering holistic, advanced practice care to patients and families, while participating in the medical/psychiatric management of patients to achieve optimal health status.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including chief complaint, history of present problem, general medical, psychiatric, substance abuse, social and family history, current medications, history of allergies and/or untoward responses to medication, review of systems, mental status exam, assessment of spirituality, a DSM IV diagnosis, short and long term goals, and a treatment plan, when indicated.
- Obtain evidence of recent physical examination and recommend yearly physical exams as appropriate.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory tests to evaluate and treat patients.
- Prescribe, dispense, and administer medical therapeutics and corrective measures in collaboration with designated staff psychiatrist.
- Recommend and provide appropriate psychiatric interventions, including individual, family and group psychotherapy.
- Provide education to patients and families, and educate staff and students to enhance their ability to provide patient care.
- Engage in research to discover, examine and test knowledge, theories and creative approaches to practice, and use research findings to improve healthcare.
- Provide consultation to healthcare providers and others to influence care plans and enhance ability to provide healthcare.
- Identify, communicate and seek resources or instruction to meet self-learning needs and continuing education needs.
- Participate in on-call coverage, including minimum one weekend per month.
Qualifications
- Current Physician Assistant license required, with certification according to CT State law.
- Prior addiction or psychiatric experience preferred.
- Basic working knowledge of computers.
