We are seeking a dedicated Oncology Pharmacist to enhance our Murtha Medical Oncology network Pharmacy operations. This role is based in Johnstown, PA, and offers a regular full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, ensuring a work-life balance with no weekend or holiday shifts.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering effective pharmacotherapy, contributing to superior patient outcomes, and fostering the education of current and future healthcare professionals while supporting drug-related research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews and management of patient medication records, ensuring the identification of allergies, drug interactions, and therapeutic duplications during order entry and verification.
- Accurately report any suspected adverse drug reactions in a timely manner.
- Interpret and assess physician orders to prepare, calculate, and dispense the correct medication dosages for both inpatient and outpatient care, adhering to state and federal pharmacy regulations.
- Prepare and dispense intravenous admixture solutions using aseptic techniques in a sterile environment.
- Organize daily pharmacy operations and supervise pharmacy technicians, aides, interns, and other support staff in delivering pharmaceutical care.
- Fill prescription orders in compliance with all relevant regulations, utilizing advanced technological resources.
- Provide drug information and educational programs to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and nursing staff to clarify any ambiguous or incomplete orders.
- Maintain formulary integrity by minimizing non-formulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
- Comply with all regulatory standards, professional practice guidelines, and hospital quality management policies in the provision of pharmaceutical care.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) from an accredited institution is required.
- Preferred experience includes 3-6 months in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- Oncology experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with investigational drug control procedures and protocol design is also preferred.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Valid Pharmacist license.
- Act 34 clearance.
