We are seeking an experienced Senior Policy Advisor to join our team at Mac's List. As a key member of our policy team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing policies that drive positive change in our community.
This is a fast-paced position that requires excellent research, policy development, communication skills, and political acumen. You will work closely with county departments, community partners, constituents, and state and local government agencies to develop policy initiatives that support our Chair's agenda.
In this role, you will be responsible for policy research and advocacy work for the Chair's Office in a portfolio of assigned issue areas determined based on your experience and the needs of the office. You will apply an equity lens in each step of your work and ensure diverse and underrepresented voices are included in policy development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Chair, Chief of Staff, and Deputy Chief of Staff to establish and coordinate policy priorities and policy work plans.
- Manage and coordinate specific policy initiatives in conjunction with county employees, commissioners, elected representatives, other governmental agencies, community partners, and community members.
- Track state legislative issues and work with internal and external partners to create and/or advance legislation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (in lieu of degree, equivalent years of relevant experience will be considered)
- Three (3) years experience working with an elected official and/or in a policy making arena
- Demonstrated experience in policy development
- Demonstrated experience of progressive responsibility in program leadership
- Experience applying an equity framework in processes and decision making
