About the Role:

We are seeking an accomplished Audit Manager to become a vital part of our esteemed CPA firm, recognized as a top 25 firm in the greater Chicagoland area. This position is integral to our Not-for-Profit audit team, focusing on delivering exceptional audit services to nonprofit organizations and privately-held businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and guide staff accountants in not-for-profit audit engagements.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff members.
  • Act as the Engagement Lead for specific nonprofit clients, managing pre-engagement planning, execution, and final deliverables.
  • Create detailed engagement work plans, budgets, and timelines. Track project progress and communicate any necessary adjustments to management.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with nonprofit clients, ensuring high-quality service and integrity.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, keeping them informed about engagement progress and timelines.
  • Design audit strategies and customize audit programs to meet client needs.
  • Review and prepare financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documentation.
  • Apply innovative thinking to enhance client operations and address complex issues.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of client transactions and situations.
  • Identify and resolve potential issues through research and consultation.
  • Manage the audit process, including resource allocation, billing, and timely delivery of work products.
  • Follow up with clients post-engagement to ensure satisfaction with services rendered.
  • Prepare Form 990 as part of the audit process for nonprofit clients.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit auditing is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of taxation is beneficial.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of audit experience in a CPA firm setting.
