Job Summary:

RailWorks is seeking a skilled Track Laborer to join our team. As a Track Laborer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, utilizing hand and power tools and other equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive crew members to and from the job site.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
  • Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
  • Remove and replace track and track components (e.g. ties, rails, bars, etc.).
  • Cut rails to specific lengths.
  • Drill holes through rails for insertion of bolts, and tighten or loosen bolts at joints that hold ends or rails together.
  • Raise rails to allow for tie removal and replacement.
  • Remove and replace ballast.
  • Slide and align tie plates.
  • Correct deviations in track surface, alignment, and gauge.
  • Observe condition of tracks, track beds, and track right of way to detect and report problems or defects.
  • Dig holes and trenches.
  • Sort track material for loading and unloading and assist operators with signaling equipment.
  • Comply with all company and railroad safety rules, practices and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
  • A minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant construction experience.
  • TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
  • 18 years or older.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Valid Driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
  • Reliable transportation, and available to travel.
