Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead

This role provides the highest level of expertise in medical laboratory science, with a focus on developing new test methodologies and analyzing current practices to ensure best clinical practice for patient populations. The incumbent will lead the work of associates in the department, implement directives related to staffing levels, and provide technical support. They will also participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives, teach new and evolving testing and technologies, and coordinate orientation and training of new associates.

- Ensure staff competency through proper training techniques
- Participate in problem solving to address issues relating to patient safety, care, and service
- Support and promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a department/unit team and interdepartmentally
- Collaborate with department leadership team to coordinate care with other departments and promote the highest level of patient care and satisfaction
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related science
- Current Medical Technologist (MT) certification through ASCP
- Minimum of four (4) years of hospital experience as a Medical Technologist or equivalent
- Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing
- Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands
- See and read computer monitors and documents
- Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment
- May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling, and reaching
