United Cerebral Palsy of South Carolina is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver to join our team at DSP Christie Rd. As a Caregiver, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live a Life Without Limits.

Job Summary:

The Caregiver will provide training and care to residents with multiple disabilities, including all areas of daily life. This includes engaging residents in activities of choice, providing transportation and supervision, and ensuring their personal hygiene and grooming needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage Residents in Activities of Choice: Reinforce ISP goals by engaging residents in activities that promote their independence and well-being.
  • Provide Transportation and Supervision: Safely transport and supervise residents as dictated by their individual program.
  • Ensure Personal Hygiene and Grooming Needs: Meet the personal hygiene and grooming needs of residents, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Use Appropriate Body Mechanics: Lift, move, and position residents with care, using appropriate body mechanics to prevent injury.
  • Inspect Home for Safety: Ensure the home meets all safety requirements, checking for clutter and hazardous objects.
  • Conduct Evacuation Drills: Participate in evacuation drills, both fire and severe weather, as directed by the supervisor.
  • Follow Program Plan: Follow the program plan for meeting all potential emergencies and disasters, such as medical, fire, severe weather, and missing persons.
  • Clean and Sanitize: Clean and sanitize all appliances, utensils, and work surfaces in accordance with Personal Care Home Rules and Regulations guidelines.
  • Cook and Prepare Meals: Prepare meals for residents, following dietary guidelines and restrictions.
  • Report Equipment Issues: Report any problems with equipment used by residents to the supervisor.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations applying to Personal Care Home and UCP Residential Services.
  • Protect Confidentiality: Comply with policies and procedures to ensure that confidentiality requirements are upheld.
  • Support Human Rights: Support and protect the fundamental human, civil, constitutional, and statutory rights of clients and families as defined by the agency.

Requirements:

  • Physical Demands: Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
