Job Summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Specimen Processor to join our team. As a Specimen Processor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process laboratory samples for testing or research, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in specimen handling and labeling.
  • Enter specimen information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) as necessary, maintaining accurate records and ensuring seamless communication with laboratory staff.
  • Dispatch specimens to the main laboratory or other designated testing facilities, adhering to established procedures and minimizing mislabeled specimens.
  • Monitor pneumatic tube systems, ensuring timely delivery of specimens and reports, and participate in process improvement activities to optimize laboratory operations.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely testing, maintaining awareness of turnaround expectations and prioritizing work duties accordingly.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification.
