Position Overview:

Arcadis is seeking a Construction Oversight Engineer to enhance our team in Los Angeles. This position encompasses a variety of professional engineering responsibilities in both field and office environments. The Construction Oversight Engineer supervises construction contracts, ensuring adherence to established guidelines and relevant specifications.

The role involves monitoring project progress to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including the inspection of materials, methodologies, and completed work. The engineer will manage payment procedures, ensure that all project documentation is in line with organizational policies, and proactively address any necessary modifications to contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of construction management, state personnel, contractors, and the public by overseeing operations and traffic conditions
  • Evaluate contractor activities for compliance with safety regulations
  • Guide team members in maintaining accurate construction records in accordance with regulations
  • Engage with contractors to ensure adherence to plans and quality standards
  • Conduct site inspections to confirm compliance with project specifications
  • Prepare and assess reports on contractor performance
  • Maintain comprehensive project records while monitoring timelines and budgets
  • Draft contract modifications as necessary for successful project completion
  • Assist in resolving disputes with contractors and ensure compliance with contract documents

Qualifications Required:

  • Approximately ten years of experience in Construction Management within Heavy Civil Engineering projects
  • About three years of supervisory experience managing similar large-scale construction contracts
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience as a Construction Oversight Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project Manager on state highway projects valued over $30 million
  • Prior involvement in state highway construction and operations
  • Valid California Class C driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with state transportation agencies
