Job Summary

M. A. Mortenson is seeking an Experienced Field Engineer in their Civil group to support and complete field coordination issues with team members, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.

Responsibilities
  • Pre-Construction Support
    • Manage submittal and RFI processes for specific definable features of work (DFW), utilizing PMA and other Project Connect programs to closure.
    • Evaluate project design and engineering documents, organizing and distributing them to necessary parties.
  • Project-Specific Tasks
    • Prepare turnover binder templates.
    • Assist with Pre-Mobilization Kickoff meetings, compiling, contacting, and arranging for short-form subcontracts with local entities at the project site.
  • Construction Support
    • Manage quality assurance & quality control process as delineated in the Project Quality Plan.
    • Manage inventory process as materials arrive to the site: inspection, offload, receiving, and storage.
    • Coordinate DFW prep meetings, initial inspections, follow-up inspections, and punch list final inspections.
  • Closeout Processes
    • Compile turnover documentation for specific DFW and transfer to customer per the project-specific quality and TSO plan.
    • Assist Project Engineer and Project Manager with getting contract documents closed out with subcontractors and suppliers.
Qualifications
  • Previous related internship experience a plus.
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Possess a basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills.
  • Current driver's license.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management.
