We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant I, Certified to join our team at UNC Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing routine clinical and administrative support to our healthcare team.
Responsibilities- Perform rooming and intake processes, collecting patient data, including vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit.
- Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Collect specimens, perform phlebotomy, and administer medications under provider direction.
- Review patient records, determine routine health screenings, and provide patient education.
- Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Assist with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals, as well as answer clinic phones and manage in-basket.
- Participate in emergency situations, following provider or nurse direction.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assisting program accreditation preferred.
- Medical Assistant certification from a recognized organization, such as AAMA, AMT, or NCMA.
- Basic Life Support Certification from AHA or ARC required.
- Prior medical assistant experience preferred.
