About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Rare Disease Case Manager to join our team at UCB. As a subject matter expert on access and reimbursement, you will play a critical role in helping patients gain access to our rare disease products and patient support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on challenging market access patient cases, providing expert guidance on benefit verifications, product procurement processes, reimbursement information, billing, coding, and coverage details.
  • Coordinate the benefit verification referral process with UCB's service center(s) and deliver timely and accurate follow-up to account stakeholders to ensure patient access to UCB medicines.
  • Provide appeal and claims denial support, working closely with internal and external partners to resolve complex reimbursement issues.
  • Establish yourself as a national and regional expert on payer trends, product access, and reporting reimbursement trends and/or delays.
  • Collaborate with UCB Rare Reimbursement Executives, Care Coordinators, specialty pharmacies, and other key personnel on complex cases requiring strategic intervention.
  • Manage and facilitate specialty pharmacy relationships, responsible for disseminating updates to team members and ensuring forward patient momentum.
  • Ensure a deep understanding of the buy and bill reimbursement process, specialty pharmacies practices, field reimbursement support activities, and patient support programs.
Requirements
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree
  • 8-10 years of experience in pharma, biotech, or healthcare space
  • 5+ years of Case Manager experience supporting market access, site of care selection
  • Excellent working knowledge of evolving reimbursement landscape and the practice management environment
  • Above-average skills with technology, including ability to quickly learn and accurately utilize contact center systems, CRM, and virtual platforms
  • Excellent virtual interaction and communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet customer demands
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Preferred, or extensive relevant experience
  • Rare disease and/or infusion experience
  • Nursing degree/healthcare clinical experience
  • Experience in managing access complexities associated with a new to market medication
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy products / products acquired through specialty pharmacy networks or specialty distributors (buy and bill)
  • Closely connected to the ever-changing payor medical benefit policy arena

This position reasonably anticipated base salary range is $121,900-$160,000 per year. The actual salary offered will take into account internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
