Overview:

  • Tasked with conducting evaluations to aid in the identification and prioritization of IT initiatives that align with corporate objectives.
  • Collaborates with a Senior Portfolio Analyst to assess the implications of new projects on the existing portfolio and partners with functional and project managers to explore alternative strategies (resource allocation, project sequencing, etc.).
  • Identifies and reports on trends that may adversely affect other projects either functionally or financially.
  • Engages in project cost estimation, scheduling, milestone tracking, and reporting for less complex initiatives.
  • Implements standardized methodologies for monitoring project performance, reporting, analysis, trend evaluation, scheduling, and estimating.
  • Supports Project Advisory and/or Project Justification committees by pinpointing items and/or trends that could impact projects or in response to follow-up queries from committee meetings.
  • This role is remote, with occasional travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employ best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, management, ongoing milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
  • Under the mentorship of a Senior Portfolio Analyst, collaborate with the financial team to quantify project benefits in a manner that facilitates objective project evaluations against company goals and supports project approval processes.
  • Work alongside functional managers and project managers to ensure all necessary data for decision-making is complete and accessible.
  • Monitor and report on milestone schedule commitments, resource allocations, and constraints.
  • Conduct IT project portfolio analysis for the benefit of other organizational divisions; this includes developing relevant financial and field evaluations and providing final recommendations to the respective manager.
  • Represent the Information Services department on agency-wide projects (less complex than those managed by a senior analyst) and/or provide support to various committees that address significant business challenges.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years of experience in Project Control, Analysis, and/or Management.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
  • Background in Project Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced concepts in Project Management, Accounting, Financial Analysis, and Risk Analysis.
  • Strong team player with excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Business preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Experience in Information Technology, Utilities, Oil & Gas, or Energy sectors is preferred.
  • Familiarity with PowerPlan, Maximo, ServiceNow, and/or Copperleaf C55 is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CCP, CEP, CPA, CSM, or PMP are advantageous.
