Job Summary

This position performs diagnostic imaging examinations to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Radiology Technologist is responsible for preparing patients for exams, obtaining and recording patient vital signs, explaining procedures, administering IV and contrast when necessary, positioning patients for the exam, selecting appropriate imaging techniques, and ensuring technical quality of the images.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiography (x-ray) exams on patients, ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures.
  • Enter and monitor patient data.
  • Perform quality assurance on radiology equipment.
  • Identify and report any accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to department management.
  • Take emergency calls within the department.
  • May be required to work weekends and float to other locations as needed.
  • May administer breath alcohol tests and/or urine drug screens.
  • May be required to perform patient registration tasks, such as verifying insurance and collecting payments.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency.
  • Support department-based goals that contribute to the success of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support.
  • Current license or temporary license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT).
  • Registered Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R).
