Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Quality Patient Care: Provide nursing care to assigned patients, minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
  • Record and Report Patient Information: Accurately record patients' medical information and vital signs, and report any changes in their condition to the nursing staff.
  • Conduct Bedside Laboratory Tests: Perform specified bedside laboratory tests as required.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Complete accurate and detailed reports and records, meeting regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide Patient Education: Educate patients on identified knowledge deficits, promoting their understanding and empowerment.
  • Lead and Mentor: Guide, educate, and provide leadership as a preceptor to new LVNs and CMAs, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement: Contribute to performance improvement process initiatives within JPS Health Network and assigned department.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Graduated from an accredited school of vocational nursing, with a minimum of 6 months of nursing experience preferred.
  • Licensure and Certification: Current licensure to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas, and current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Specialized Training: ACLS certification within 3 months of hire (required in Emergency Department and Critical Care only), EKG test passed within 90 days of hire date, and completion of Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.
