Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) PRN is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in accordance with physicians' orders under the guidance and supervision of the nurse in charge. This role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care and a focus on minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver quality nursing care to assigned patients while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Record patients' medical information and vital signs accurately and in a timely manner.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions to ensure prompt attention and treatment.
Conduct specified laboratory tests as required by the patient's care plan.
Maintain accurate and detailed reports and records to meet regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
Provide patient education directed towards identified knowledge deficits to promote informed decision-making and self-care.
Guide, educate, and provide leadership as a preceptor to new LVNs and CMAs following 6 months of employment.
Participate in performance improvement process initiatives within JPS Health Network and assigned department.

Requirements:

Graduate from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing.
Current licensure to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners and must maintain licensure throughout employment.
Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
ACLS within 3 months of hire (required in Emergency Department and Critical Care only).
EKG test passed within 90 days of hire date and maintained throughout employment (required in Emergency Department and Critical Care only).
Completion of Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire and maintains credentialing throughout employment for the Emergency Department.
Completion of unit specific competency based orientation program within 90 days, if applicable.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within 6 weeks of employment (for Inpatient Women's Services only).
Approved Education and Training in Non-Violent Crisis De-escalation must be obtained within 90 days of hire date and maintained throughout employment for the Emergency Department.
