We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Registered Nurse to join our team at Wellpath. As a Psychiatric Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients in a psychiatric setting.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to provide quality patient care by completing assessments, analyzing data, and administering medication according to established standards.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies, assess for suicide ideation, and manage appropriate risk levels.
- Communicate with healthcare staff regarding patient mental health status, document findings in patient health records, and provide crisis intervention and counseling as required.
- Coordinate activities of assigned shift, respond to intake area requests, and maintain a clean, safe, and secure working environment.
- Initiate lifesaving measures, identify medical emergencies, and arrange transportation to hospital as needed.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- 3+ years' working in a psychiatric nurse role.
- Previous correctional/detention facility experience.
- At least two years' experience providing treatment to adults with various mental health disabilities.
- Current (and must maintain) unrestricted RN license in state of practice.
- Psychiatric–Mental Health Nursing Certification, i.e. via ANCC, or has completed required hours and is in process of testing for certification.
- Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA.
- A dynamic, safe, and challenging setting where your expertise can truly make a difference.
- Additional $2 night and $1 weekend shift differential (stacking).
