PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As a Process Improvement Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to evaluate existing production methods and workflows within Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Logistics. Your goal will be to enhance business processes for greater efficiency, minimize waste, and ideally achieve cost reductions through lean methodologies.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives throughout the organization by utilizing process enhancement methodologies and innovative thinking.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to all stakeholders, fostering a culture of continuous improvement to support ongoing organizational change.
  • Facilitate the delivery of enhanced value and efficiency by identifying and removing unnecessary complexities in business processes.
  • Lead, educate, and guide team members in lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, SMED, 5S, Flow, Rapid Problem Solving, Total Productive Maintenance, and Built-in Quality.
  • Support the identification, coaching, and training aimed at reducing the 7(+1) wastes.
  • Develop and manage the data capture system within the organization, along with any software and metrics necessary to track Continuous Improvement progress.
  • Analyze trends and variations from any Continuous Improvement monitoring systems.
  • Encourage and coordinate all SMED activities.
  • Assess and identify training requirements.
  • Propose and present potential Lean/Six Sigma projects with solid business cases, while also supporting projects led by others.
  • Ensure the maintenance of all Continuous Improvement documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures and One Point Lessons, to an acceptable standard.
  • Provide ongoing support for the Production & Quality Manager as needed.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Trained in Lean principles, with proven application of Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop teams and professional relationships, including effective written and verbal communication tailored to various organizational levels.
  • Ability to influence other departments impacting business KPIs.
  • Excellent facilitation skills.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Professional demeanor with respect for confidentiality and discretion.
  • Adaptable approach to work.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Manufacturing plant setting.
  • Cleanroom environment requiring appropriate protective equipment.
  • This position is expected to be on-site five days a week, with occasional remote work at management's discretion.
  • Hearing, eye, and foot protection may be necessary on the production floor.
