Job Summary

Whitsons Culinary Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Service Worker to join our team at the CREC Academy of Computer Science. As a Food Service Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen and serving line.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of food and beverages for students and staff.
  • Serve meals to students and staff in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform cleaning duties, including the cleaning of equipment and work areas, dishwashing, and pot washing.
  • Light cooking, filling beverage coolers, and setting up hot and/or cold food areas.
  • Deliver food to staff, students, and catering events as needed.
  • Prepare and serve food according to menus and recipes.
  • Check and store incoming supplies.
  • Store dishes, containers, cups, pots, and other equipment.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and attend all mandatory in-service programs.
  • Support the goals, objectives, and mission statement of Whitsons Culinary Group.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Work Schedule

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7am-2pm, subject to change.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to sit, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Stand on feet for the majority of the workday, with occasional walking and movement.
  • Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, with occasional lifting while turning side to side.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • The work is performed primarily in the kitchen and on the serving line.
  • Standing for most of the workday is required.
  • Work requires movement in and out of store rooms and freezers.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Foodservice experience is a must.
  • Ability to speak and read English in order to understand and perform job assignments.
  • Extensive physical demands, including lifting up to 40lbs, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • Always present a positive and professional image.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Basic English reading and writing skills.
  • Able to pass background screening.

  • ServSafe certification.
