Water Treatment Plant Operator

Job Summary:The Water Plant Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment, processing, and testing equipment in a water treatment facility to ensure the production of high-quality water that meets permit and operational requirements. This role involves troubleshooting and diagnosing operational problems, taking corrective action, and monitoring flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures, and related controls through instrument panels and programmable logic control units.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate and maintain water treatment, processing, and testing equipment to ensure the production of high-quality water.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose operational problems and take corrective action.
- Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures, and related controls through instrument panels and programmable logic control units.
- Record operating conditions, observations, and data in the area shift log.
- Ensure conformance to process specifications and verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances to the supervisor.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance and maintenance-related items as assigned.
- Perform field laboratory tests to pace chemical dosages for efficient process control.
- Ensure all safety and environmental requirements are consistently achieved, including strict compliance.
- Active Oklahoma Class C Water Operator's License.
- One year of experience relating to the construction, repair, and maintenance of water collection or treatment systems, including the operation of related maintenance equipment.
- Considerable knowledge of water pipe installation, connection, and repair.
- Considerable knowledge of water treatment plant operation and maintenance.
- Ability to interpret specific chemical and biological analyses.
- Ability to guide, direct, and motivate employees.
- Ability to organize and supervise the activities of various crews performing construction and maintenance work.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.
