Nursing Care Coordinator

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Regency Retirement Village of Birmingham. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to our residents and supervise and guide our clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and provide nursing care for residents, including documenting their condition and nursing needs.
- Implement physicians' orders accurately and promptly, and assign nursing care to team members based on resident needs and staff capabilities.
- Supervise, direct, and evaluate junior staff members and caregivers, and administer medications and perform treatments as required.
- Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel, and assist physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state-specific Nursing Practice Act.
- Ensure that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner.
- Report and record pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents, and coordinate nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in residents, and participate in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination of staff as permitted by state practice act.
- Supervise the nursing unit/hall, including scheduling and directing staff as permitted by state practice act, and perform other tasks as assigned.
- Promote interpersonal relationships and develop staff morale, and assure that inventory and supplies are maintained on the unit/hall and communicate need for housekeeping, maintenance, and dietary assistance.
- Answer resident call lights and ensure that all residents are checked frequently, and report any suspected abuse to the Director of Nursing/Administrator immediately.
- Graduate of accredited LPN/LVN School of Nursing
- Valid LPN/LVN license from the State of Alabama
- Valid CPR certification
- One year experience in nursing preferred
- Skilled in motivating and directing the workforce, ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team, and ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members.
- Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations, knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Solicits resident/family feedback to understand their needs and the needs of the community, and demonstrates commitment to interpersonal excellence through professional greetings, proper telephone etiquette, common courtesy, a professional attitude, and appearance.
