The Associate Director of Law School Advancement is a key member of the Law School Advancement team, responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of major gift and high-end annual giving prospects. This role requires a strong understanding of the legal profession and the ability to build meaningful relationships with alumni and donors.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage a portfolio of major gift and high-end annual giving prospects to ensure giving at the major gifts level of $50,000+.
- Personal visits with 15 prospects/donors per month, with a focus on cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and discovery visits.
- Record each visit or communication briefly after each interaction and define at least one next step agreed to by the prospect and the officer.
- Closes at least 15 solicitations a year, beginning in the second year.
- Works with the Planned Giving Office to increase the number of planned gifts to the School of Law.
- Ensures that all donors with endowed funds receive stewardship reports and creates personal interactions between the donors and the fund's recipient(s).
- Assists in the implementation of special on-campus events, including Law Council meetings, Law Volunteer Training, Law Reunions, stewardship events, and off-campus events in chapters with large numbers of law alumni.
- A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree or Juris Doctor is preferred.
- At least three years of successful major gift fundraising experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Sophisticated interpersonal skills, the ability to listen effectively, and outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to work collaboratively and strategically, and proficiency in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner and on deadline.
- Familiarity with the legal profession is preferred.
- A high degree of personal integrity and solid attendance is essential.
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
