Child Care Specialist – U.S. Customs and Border Protection
Security Clearance:
All candidates are required to complete an e-QIP security clearance process, which generally takes between 60 to 90 days. It is crucial to commit to this extensive process due to its significant time and financial implications. Employment eligibility will only be granted upon successful completion of this process.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Shifts are 12 hours long, with a schedule of 3.5 days per week. Available shifts are from Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday, with times set at either 6 AM to 6 PM or 6 PM to 6 AM. Please note that shift times are fixed and cannot be altered. The facilities operate continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the nature of shift availability, candidates must be prepared to start on the night shift. Please indicate if this is not feasible.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Job Summary: The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking a dedicated caregiver to fulfill responsibilities for Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) and Family Units (FMUA). The caregiver will ensure a secure environment while promoting adherence to safety protocols and health standards. Responsibilities include providing general care for children, meeting quality standards comparable to those of state-licensed daycare facilities.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Experience: No prior experience is necessary. Training will be provided in areas such as personal care, hygiene, infection control, maintaining a safe environment, basic first aid, and emergency procedures, as well as understanding issues related to abuse and neglect.
- Certifications: CPR Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Licenses: A valid State Driver's License is required.
- Citizenship: Candidates must be U.S. citizens or Legal Permanent Residents who have resided in the U.S. for at least 3 of the past 5 years.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in both English and Spanish is essential.
- Physical Requirements: Candidates must be capable of standing or sitting for extended periods and able to perform all required services under the contract.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Applicants should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is essential. Strong teamwork and time management skills are required, along with the capability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure setting. A high level of adaptability and a willingness to embrace change are crucial in this demanding role.
