Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Plant Operator II to join our team at Veolia Environnement SA. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power generation facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain Power Generation Equipment: You will be responsible for operating and maintaining our power generation equipment, including diesel electric generating sets, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Monitor and Control Electrical Systems: You will be responsible for monitoring and controlling our electrical systems, including voltage, frequency, and power output, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform Routine Maintenance: You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment, to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
  • Respond to Emergencies: You will be responsible for responding to emergencies, including equipment failures and power outages, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: You will be responsible for collaborating with team members, including engineers and technicians, to ensure safe and efficient operation of our facilities.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: You must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Technology, Maintenance/Asset Management, or a related field. You must also have at least 2 years of experience in power plant operations.
  • Skills and Abilities: You must have excellent reading, math, writing, scientific, and verbal communication skills. You must also be able to understand and execute written and oral instructions, read and understand complex technical instructions, and interpret service manuals and drawings.
  • Certifications and Licenses: You must have a valid NYS Driver's license and be able to meet risk management guidelines.
Working Conditions

You will be working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to all kinds of weather conditions. You may be occasionally exposed to noise, silica, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, greases, oils, electrical energy, solvents, and vibration. You may also work on slippery/uneven surfaces, around machinery with moving parts, moving objects/vehicles, ladder/scaffolding, below ground, and may be exposed to water or other liquid materials.
