Job Title: Power Plant Operator II

Veolia North America is seeking a highly skilled Power Plant Operator II to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power generation facilities.

Job Summary:

The Power Plant Operator II will be responsible for adjusting controls to generate specified electrical power, regulating the flow of power between generating stations and substations, and controlling and maintaining auxiliary equipment such as pumps, fans, compressors, condensers, feed water heaters, filters, and chlorinators. The successful candidate will have excellent reading, math, writing, scientific, and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to understand and execute written and oral instructions, read and understand complex technical instructions, and interpret service manuals and drawings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate, control, and monitor power generation, auxiliary, and balance of plant electrical loads, equipment, and systems.
  • Provide leadership and directing in response to alarms and abnormal conditions and lead emergency response actions.
  • Evaluate the operation and performance of Power Plant facilities, processes, systems, and equipment.
  • Review designs and constructed facilities and make recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Complete reports which document plant status, equipment, operating data, and operational events.
  • Collect data on unplanned outages and make recommendations to minimize the probability of similar events.
  • Ensure relevant equipment and processes are well maintained and functioning properly through oversight.
  • Oversee/Perform cleanup and housekeeping tasks for work area, tools, equipment, facilities, and grounds.
  • Maintain proper operational and maintenance documents and records.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Technology, Maintenance/Asset Management, or related fields required.
  • No physical restrictions that would prevent them from performing physical labor.
  • Excellent reading, math, writing, scientific, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and execute written and oral instructions, read and understand complex technical instructions, and interpret service manuals and drawings.
  • Ability to maintain equipment and have excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate complex controls, processes, and equipment, and adjust accordingly to maintain proper efficient operation and compliance.
Working Environment:

Work is performed both inside and outside with exposure to all kinds of weather conditions. Employee may be occasionally exposed to some noise, silica, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, greases, oils, electrical energy, solvents, and vibration. Employee may work on slippery/uneven surfaces, around machinery with moving parts, moving objects/vehicles, ladder/scaffolding, below ground, and may be exposed to water or other liquid materials.
