Operating Room Surgical Technologist Opportunity

UPMC Hamot's Operating Room is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in our Night Program. This is a full-time opportunity that requires 6 months of experience and a commitment to working night shifts.

We offer a 17-suite operating room with a wide range of specialties, including robotics, kidney transplants, trauma, and more. Our team provides high-quality care for both elective and urgent patients, from infants to geriatrics. You will have the opportunity to work with world-class surgeons and anesthesiologists from across the country.

We provide a generous sign-on bonus for full-time Surgical Technologists, with amounts varying based on years of experience. For example:

  • 0-1 years of experience: 2-year commitment $10,000; 3-year commitment $12,000
  • 1-2 years of experience: 2-year commitment $12,000; 3-year commitment $17,000
  • 2+ years of experience: 2-year commitment $15,000; 3-year commitment $25,000

Responsibilities

As a Surgical Technologist in our Operating Room, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing the operating room for surgical procedures, including setting up sterile equipment and supplies
  • Passing instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures
  • Assisting in the preparation, care, and disposal of specimens taken for laboratory analysis
  • Helping to apply dressings and preparing patients for surgery
  • Ensuring a clean and safe environment through continued alertness to safety and explosive hazards and aseptic technique

We require a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal surgical technician program offered by a community or junior college, vocational school, university, hospital, or the military. You must also have a valid CPR certification and meet the requirements for licensure, certifications, and clearances.
