Job Overview:

  • Take comprehensive responsibility for the hardware design and manufacturing of systems, fixtures, and prototypes to support product development and validation teams.
  • Design innovative mechatronic and electromechanical fixtures/systems for internal validation testing of consumer wearable technologies.
  • Develop detailed specifications and project plans, collaborating closely with product designers and cross-functional teams to ensure all requirements are integrated into the specifications.
  • Serve as both a team leader and an individual contributor, conducting in-depth design work, creating 3D models, producing drawings, and facilitating design reviews.

Technical Expertise Required:

  • Proficient in NX with advanced surfacing techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing high-precision mechanisms and electromechanical assemblies and systems.
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including injection molding, sheet metal stamping, forging, and die casting.
  • Understanding of tolerances and tolerance analysis in relation to fixture design and implementation.
  • Strong grasp of product lifecycle management, particularly in early-stage development, production, and launch phases.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in a team leadership role.
  • Proficient in Siemens NX for CAD applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in technical documentation and report generation.
  • Expected to produce technical reports and present findings at technical reviews.

Preferred Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience in creating production drawings for consumer electronics using NX.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, electronic, and mechanical schematics and drawings.
  • Capability to make quick trade-off decisions to facilitate progress based on engineering principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in designing 3D plastic and metal components for various manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience in mass production environments.
  • Able to work effectively under tight deadlines to meet production schedules.
  • Adaptable to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, JMP).
  • Familiarity with project and process planning methodologies such as DFSS, V-Models, Gantt charts, or similar tools.
