Job Summary:

The Part Time Custodian position at the Naperville Park District is responsible for performing general facility maintenance, classroom preparation, building supervision, and custodial duties at the District's indoor facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Set up and tear down rooms to accommodate scheduled activities, including recreation programs, rentals, meetings, special events, and facility rentals.
  2. Maintain and clean indoor facility space, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.
  3. Respond to safety and emergency requests, following established procedures to ensure prompt and effective action.
  4. Open and close indoor facilities in accordance with facility schedules, ensuring that all necessary tasks are completed.
  5. Provide excellent customer service as a host for outside rentals, performing check-in and check-out procedures with professionalism and courtesy.
  6. Transport equipment, supplies, and program guides to necessary facilities, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  7. Receive and distribute items shipped from vendors, maintaining accurate records and communicating with supervisors as needed.
  8. Remove snow and apply salt at key access points, ensuring safe and accessible pathways for residents and staff.
  9. Comply with District financial policies, communicating budgetary requests to supervisors and maintaining accurate records.
  10. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with residents, customers, vendors, community partners, and co-workers, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  11. Follow and model compliance with all District, State, Federal, and departmental safety and risk management, personnel, administrative policies, and procedures, ordinances, and regulations.
  12. Maintain a proactive approach to safety and risk management, reporting all accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Working Conditions:

  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, dirt, loud noise, and insect bites.
  • Subject to modified/flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to move from site to site.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move medium weight objects (>30 lbs.), with lifting assistance required when lifting over 30 lbs.
  • Occasional manipulation of assigned office equipment.
  • Prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing for extended periods of time.
  • Sustained posture in a standing position for prolonged periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and strength to operate power-operated machines.
