Job Summary

Virginia Commonwealth University's Facilities Management Department is seeking a skilled Electrical/Ventilation Trades Specialist to join its Facilities Operations team. As a key member of the team, you will utilize your knowledge of electrical and mechanical trades to perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of building infrastructure, primarily exhaust and fume hood systems. Your expertise will ensure the efficient operation of Zone facilities, providing exemplary customer service to faculty, staff, and students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and mechanical systems, including exhaust and fume hood systems.
  • Provide customer service to faculty, staff, and students, responding to service requests and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Identify and document system deficiencies, advising management of tasks requiring priority attention.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure safe and orderly completion of service requests and projects.
Requirements
  • Several years' experience in commercial/institutional electrical or mechanical maintenance.
  • Electrical or HVAC courses I, II, III, code classes, basic and advanced training or equivalent combination of experience and trade/craft training.
  • State of Virginia Journeyman Electrical or HVAC License required or the ability to obtain within the first year of service.
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, service, and install a wide variety of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and vibrations. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary range: $55,000 - $65,000 ($26.44/hr - $31.25/hr) + up to $5,000 Sign-on Bonus.
