Soliant is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Visual Impairment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our educational support staff, you will provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in various educational settings.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction and Support: Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in inclusive classrooms, resource rooms, and one-on-one settings.
- IEP Development: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, goals, and abilities.
- Curriculum Adaptation: Adapt and modify instructional materials, curriculum, and assessments to accommodate visual impairments and facilitate access to the general education curriculum.
- Compensatory Skills: Teach compensatory skills, including braille literacy, orientation and mobility, independent living skills, and assistive technology proficiency.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support for students with visual impairments.
- Progress Monitoring: Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress, monitor achievement of IEP goals, and adjust instruction and support strategies as needed.
- Professional Development: Stay current on research, technology, and best practices in the field of visual impairment education.
- Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification/license in Visual Impairment (TVI) or ability to obtain certification/license.
- Experience: Previous experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in braille literacy, assistive technology, and specialized instructional techniques for students with visual impairments.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals, families, and community members.
- Competitive Compensation: Negotiable and competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
- Benefits Package: W2 employee contract for the 2024 school year, with renewals available for a great fit. Paid for all hours worked and weekly pay. Benefits (Health, vision, dental, and 401k with employer match) are available.
