Job Summary

MITRE is seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Researcher to join our Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center's Robotics and Autonomous Systems Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing autonomy algorithms on robotics hardware, as well as maintaining knowledge of advances in autonomy and/or artificial intelligence in industry and academia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement autonomy algorithms on robotics hardware
  • Collaborate with a team to create artificial intelligence software using modern software engineering techniques
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in autonomy and/or artificial intelligence
  • Analyze sensor and algorithm data to improve robotics system performance
  • Conduct research in the field of autonomy and AI
  • Evaluate autonomy and AI solutions and compare to sponsor requirements and needs
Requirements
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to nurture relationship development with sponsors
  • Proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms, systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference given to qualified candidates with active/current DoD Secret Clearance
  • Knowledge of robotics and autonomous systems technologies, techniques, architectures, and algorithms
  • Experience in artificial intelligence fields, such as computer vision, deep learning, machine learning, planning, human machine teaming, and multi-robot systems
  • Experience with robotics software and frameworks, e.g. ROS
  • Experience with programming languages such as C++ and python
  • Experience with AI development tools such as Tensor Flow, etc
