The State of Virginia is seeking a Correctional Nursing Specialist to join our team.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse with experience in correctional nursing to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and challenging environment.
This role involves providing evidence-based nursing care to patients, administering medications, and maintaining open lines of communication with security and treatment staff.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license
- Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of practical or general nursing care
- Demonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals
- Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers with current certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC)
This wage position offers competitive pay with an estimated annual salary of $40,800-$48,960 based on 29 hours per week.
As a state employee, you will be eligible for benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
OthersThis position requires working flexible hours, including days, evenings, and weekends, and may involve assignments to other duties or locations as needed.
Please note that this wage employment period resets annually on May 1st, and all wage employees are limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period.
