About the Position

The InsideHigherEd team is seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join our team in the field of brain development and sleep. As a Research Fellow, you will be responsible for conducting experiments with young children, collecting and analyzing data, and contributing to the dissemination of research findings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments with young children, including MRI, behavioral, and sleep physiology data collection
  • Collect and analyze data, including data processing and statistical analysis
  • Train and supervise undergraduate students and project assistants
  • Perform general administrative duties, including data management, scheduling meetings, and purchasing equipment
  • Assist with research protocols and compliance
  • Contribute to data dissemination, including poster presentations and manuscript submissions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as psychology, neuroscience, or a related field
  • Previous research experience with human subjects
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population of parents and children
  • Ability to organize and prioritize goals, with the ability to collaborate well to formulate plans and objectives
  • Previous experience working with children in some capacity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing research assistants or other staff
  • Experience collecting MRI, EEG/polysomnography data
  • Strong computational and programming skills

Working Conditions

  • This position requires flexibility and mobility, with work taking place at various locations, including multiple locations on campus and visits to participant homes
  • This position requires placing electrodes, monitoring EEG waves, and therefore requires a high level of visual acuity
