Job Overview

The Research Recruitment Coordinator will be responsible for participant engagement and management for principal investigators within the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. This role is a full-time position with benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and recruit participants for research initiatives through the distribution of promotional materials, fostering partnerships with local organizations, and participating in community events.
  • Evaluate and arrange schedules for research participants in accordance with approved protocols and methodologies.
  • Organize travel arrangements (including airfare, lodging, and local transportation) and reimbursements (such as meals) for out-of-state research participants.
  • Collaborate with community partners and external research sites.
  • Travel to various work locations and research facilities as needed.
  • Administer informed consent processes for research participants.
  • Work closely with researchers on study-related tasks (such as parking, scheduling, and participant compensation).
  • Manage and track participant compensation in compliance with university policies.
  • Assist with the submission and renewal of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, including drafting and updating recruitment and screening materials.
  • Support administrative functions related to human subjects research, including the development of Site Operation Manuals to ensure quality assurance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in an office environment. An Associate's degree or higher may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
  • Proficiency in both oral and written communication in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to produce professional communications with effective grammar, punctuation, and clarity in both languages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of individuals, including staff, faculty, students, and potential research participants.
  • Commitment to diversity and cultural understanding, demonstrating a willingness to learn and reflect on various identities.
  • Excellent initiative, independence, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to varying situations.
  • Capability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, and policies related to job responsibilities.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft SharePoint/Teams, Google Suite, and design software such as Canva. Willingness to learn new technologies as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in recruiting human subjects for research.
  • Familiarity with IRB protocols.
  • Skills in designing public-facing promotional materials.
  • Knowledge of the communities in Hampden County.

Working Conditions

  • Typical office and laboratory environments.

Additional Information

Some travel may be required for community engagement activities.

Work Schedule

  • Standard hours are Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekend commitments for community events.
  • This is a full-time position with benefits.
