Position Summary
The primary responsibility of this role is to execute complex repairs on industrial machinery. This includes performing essential services, preventative maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or reconditioning of components to ensure equipment operates safely and effectively.
Role Description
The technician will collaborate closely with the Shop Foreman to assess and inspect jobs for necessary repairs. Coordination with the Service Writer and parts departments is essential to identify parts requirements and estimate labor for each repair task. Timely completion of all work is expected, along with thorough inspections of each job to confirm safe and proper operation before final approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with all safety regulations.
- Complete all required documentation for warranty and customer records.
- Utilize manuals and diagrams to troubleshoot engines, fuel systems, transmissions, and other components of material handling equipment.
- Effectively use meters, measuring devices, and computers to test and recalibrate equipment, ensuring all warranty paperwork is completed accurately.
- Employ hand and power tools for the removal, installation, replacement, rebuilding, repair, and testing of parts and equipment.
- Safely operate lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to position parts for repair.
- Access various resources and computers to reference parts, gather information, and enter data.
- Climb onto, under, and into vehicles, using tools to disassemble and reassemble components such as sheet metal, engines, transmissions, and fuel systems.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on product advancements.
- Assist with maintenance and housekeeping projects within the facility.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. (and occasionally more).
Experience Requirements
2-5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
Education and Certification Requirements
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Certification as a Forklift Operator is mandatory.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position is performed in a maintenance shop setting, with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, or solvents, necessitating a solid understanding of safety protocols. The role requires physical stamina for continuous activity, including climbing, reaching, pushing, and lifting. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
