Title: Pediatric Speech Therapist

Reports to: Program Manager

Department: Early Start

Location: In-home and community-based services

FLSA Status: Exempt/B

Compensation: $72,818 - $90,819

Office Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Supervisory Responsibility: None

POSITION SUMMARY

Deliver individualized speech and language therapy to clients aged birth to three years, including staff training, family support, case management, and assistance with program outreach.

Essential Duties:
  • Conduct assessments to identify and develop treatment plans for speech, language, fluency, articulation, expressive and receptive language delays, and hearing impairments.
  • Prepare detailed reports following assessments and create treatment plans. Discuss evaluation outcomes and treatment strategies with families.
  • Provide services both in clinical settings and at clients' residences as required by various agencies. Track client progress and modify services as necessary.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of monthly billing for all therapists, adhering to deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate scheduling and record-keeping systems.
  • Engage with family members and other professionals involved in the client's care, ensuring compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
  • Implement goals outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Educate parents on strategies to enhance speech development for both in-clinic and home-based therapy clients.
  • Collaborate with multiple agencies regarding referrals, treatment progress, and service discharge.
Other Duties
  • May oversee Clinical Fellows (CFYs) and Graduate Student Interns.
  • Adhere to the organization's Injury and Illness Prevention Program, ensuring safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Follow all organizational policies and procedures, including mandated reporting protocols.
  • Participate in required meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain regular on-site work hours.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related discipline. Current California State License and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Pathology.

Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical experience working with children aged birth to three years with diverse disorders.

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy.
  • Proactive approach and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to respond promptly to emergencies.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of initiative.
  • Proficient computer skills for report generation.
  • Basic understanding of the roles of other team members.
  • Bilingual abilities preferred (English/Spanish or English/Armenian).
REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of car insurance, and a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a DOJ background check.
  • Provide proof of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Keep California License for Speech and Language Pathology current.
