Role Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals within the unit. This position involves adhering to the care plans of each individual while facilitating their participation in daily living activities both at home and in the community. The CNA collaborates closely with the Registered Nurse and Program Director to foster a secure and healthy environment for both consumers and staff. Additionally, the CNA may undertake administrative responsibilities as directed by the Unit Director or Registered Nurse, embodying the core values of Resources for Human Development.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Care Responsibilities
- Administer medications and prescribed treatments with precision, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide essential personal care to assist individuals in maintaining their health and public appearance, including bathing, grooming, and other personal hygiene tasks.
- Engage in physical activities to meet certification requirements for Crisis Prevention and Intervention training.
- Implement supportive measures during crises, including managing self-injurious behaviors or aggression.
- Assist in the physical lifting and transferring of consumers as necessary, based on their individual capabilities.
Client Interaction and Support
- Accompany individuals during community activities, fostering meaningful interactions with others.
- Deliver services in various settings, including homes, community centers, hospitals, and nursing facilities.
Administrative Functions
- Assist in evaluating skill levels and remain vigilant regarding environmental factors affecting the individuals served. Maintain cleanliness and safety in the home environment.
- Report any safety concerns or physical site issues promptly.
- Ensure proper documentation and implementation of Individual Support Plan (ISP) outcomes.
- Participate in the development of Individual Support Plans, focusing on program planning and maintaining appropriate staff supervision ratios.
Qualifications:
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification in good standing with the state nursing board.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Demonstrated safe driving skills in accordance with organizational standards.
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting Requirements:
- Heavy lifting capabilities, including the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly.
