Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with chronic pain, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and other evidence-based interventions.
  • Collaborate with interventional pain physicians, addiction medicine specialists, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to identify underlying psychological issues contributing to chronic pain.
  • Provide psychotherapeutic interventions, including group and individual therapy sessions, to help patients manage pain and improve their overall well-being.
  • Participate in staff conferences to develop and evaluate treatment programs, ensuring that care is coordinated and effective.
  • Consult with other departments as needed to ensure seamless care coordination and co-management of patients.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited university or professional school, with specialized training in pain management, health psychology, and biological bases of behavior in clinical medicine.
  • Minimum one year of clinical internship with specialized training or experience in chronic pain medicine/management.
  • Minimum of 1,600 hours of formal post-doctoral training program in pain management in medical settings with anesthesiology, physical medicine, and/or surgical services.
  • Knowledge of biofeedback and ability to perform/teach cognitive behavioral therapy, relaxation techniques as it relates to pain management.
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently without direct clinical supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
