Job Summary

Under the direction of the manager and in-charge technologist, the CT Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform CT scans as directed by the manager
  • Communicate with physicians and other work-related personnel appropriately
  • Identify patients and procedures, and communicate with nursing or physician concerning patient
  • Position patients accurately for all CT procedures
  • Know scanning protocols in depth and perform procedures correctly using protocol book for reference
  • Studies must be done in a timely manner and taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after completion of exam
  • Obtain appropriate supplies and prepare room for patient
  • Keep room cleaned and stocked at all times
  • Respond to codes and other emergency situations appropriately
Additional Responsibilities
  • Explain CT procedure to patient and/or family member
  • Obtain completed questionnaire and proper history and clinical from patient, floor or physician's office
  • Inform patients and families of all delays
  • Train co-workers and students
  • Assist other technologists when not busy in assigned CT room
  • Acquire requisition and check for appropriate clinical
  • Charge procedure, supplies and surgical codes when exam is completed
  • Indicate no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time
  • Operate the PAC's system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive
  • Report equipment problems to supervisor, in-charge tech and document confirmation numbers
Requirements
  • Certification: ARRT Registered and registered in CT
  • CPR certified
  • SCQRSA License
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • 3D Imaging preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
  • Data entry
