Position Overview
Timmons Group is consistently seeking applications for the role of Field Survey Supervisor for future opportunities within our surveying division.

The Field Survey Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of designated Survey Instrument Operators to ensure the successful execution of engineering and land surveys.

Key Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of an ideal candidate include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing the daily operations of the Field Crew to deliver field data for boundary surveys, topographic assessments, and construction stakeout projects.
  • Training team members in the use of total stations, levels, GPS, and data collectors for effective field data collection.
  • Setting and establishing points for construction stakeout initiatives (including curb and gutter, drop inlets, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, waterline, and various structures).
  • Conducting routine maintenance and care of surveying instruments.
  • Providing accurate and detailed field notes, including necessary sketches.
  • Overseeing the upkeep of survey equipment, supplies, and vehicles.

The candidate must be capable of working collaboratively within a team while also being prepared to work independently when required.

Qualifications
Skills and requirements for a successful candidate include, but are not limited to:
  • A high school diploma or GED along with five (5) years of field survey experience.
  • Familiarity with Leica Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors, and GPS technology is preferred.
  • Experience in DOT transportation surveying is advantageous.
  • Ability to collect field data in an organized, neat, and professional manner for various boundary, topographic, design, and construction staking projects.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Surveyor Intern (SI) designation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • The capability to compute, process, and map field data will present the right candidate with opportunities for career advancement.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally is necessary.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment across diverse terrains.
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round, including in extreme weather conditions.
  • Physical tasks may include hiking, climbing, and vegetation management (such as chopping, cutting, hammering, and sawing).
