Position Overview:
Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a dedicated Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in the Operating Room. This role is essential in delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Surgical Services RN, you will:
  • Utilize the nursing process to evaluate patient needs, formulate care plans, and implement tailored interventions.
  • Engage patients and their families in the care process, fostering a supportive and therapeutic relationship.
  • Monitor and identify significant changes in patient conditions, responding promptly to ensure optimal care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient-centered care and resource mobilization.
  • Implement safety strategies to minimize patient risks and ensure a secure environment.
  • Assess the readiness of patients and families for learning, customizing educational approaches as needed.
  • Coordinate discharge planning through a collaborative, team-based approach.
  • Apply evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and adhere to regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance departmental functions and patient experiences.
  • Contribute to professional development through continuous learning and participation in educational programs.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
  • A valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • A degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • At least one year of clinical nursing experience.

  • Ability to recognize and respond to situational changes effectively.
  • Proficient computer skills, including electronic medical records.

Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be capable of:
  • Performing physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Handling weights up to 50 lbs and performing sliding transfers with assistance.
