Job Title: Electrical Estimation Director

Salary: The estimated annual compensation for this position is between $160,000 and $180,000, commensurate with experience.

About the Role:
The successful candidate will lead the electrical estimating department, overseeing its personnel and operations. This includes managing day-to-day activities such as assigning resources, coordinating pre-bid attendance, bid management, cost databases, estimating software, and implementing improving estimating practices. Additionally, they will ensure that employees have the necessary knowledge, training, and tools to successfully estimate, sell, and construct projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the firm's estimating activities, including pre-bid attendance, bid management, cost databases, estimating software, and implementing/improving all estimating practices.
- Direct, plan, organize, and coordinate functions inherent to a manager/supervisory position.
- Conduct/project meetings/huddles to communicate project requirements.
- Establish timelines and estimating goals for effective and timely submittals.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration on estimates between all disciplines and parties.
- Work closely with the Preconstruction Manager to achieve department objectives.
- Develop department protocol for best estimating practices.
- Review/Approve bids, specifications, drawings, and contracts to proactively solve potential issues.
- Inform preconstruction staff of project requirements and owner directives, developing a plan to meet stated goals.
- Assist with identifying and negotiating time extensions as needed with the client.
- Manage and develop the estimating department, ensuring quality services meet project requirements.
- Act as Hiring Manager for the department, evaluating needs, producing requisitions, conducting interviews, and reviewing performance evaluations.
- Perform weekly timesheet reviews of all estimating staff.
- Review and approve data submitted by staff, including proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Coordinate and approve employee time off, ensuring the department is properly staffed.
- Review and approve expense reports, including travel, credit cards, and other estimating-related expenses.
- Evaluate employee performance, working with the Preconstruction Manager to establish career development and growth plans.
- Provide monthly reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including types and values of estimates produced.
- Coordinate with Construction Operations and other company executives to effectuate strategic planning efforts.
- Prepare to turnover documents to the Construction Ops department in a timely manner.
- Review drawings with the Project Management team, highlighting areas of concern.
- Review job costs with the Project Management team, highlighting subs/material vendors needing award.

Requirements:
- Proven high-level construction estimating experience, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Proven management experience, leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others successfully.
- Solid presentation skills and verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of contractual requirements, conceptual estimating, design drawings, and project specifications.
- Familiarity with industry-leading estimating software.
- Risk assessment analysis and estimating abilities in multiple markets and geographic locations.
- B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent progressive work experience with 7+ years of estimating on construction projects or 10+ years of experience in lieu of education.
- Ability to make decisions under tight deadlines.
- Hands-on experience in estimating.
- Ability to independently produce conceptual estimates.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- Expertise relative to constructability applied to construction methods and materials, economics involved, and advance knowledge of construction, construction management, and design-build construction obtained through a combination of experience and education.
- Experience with Microsoft Project and Primavera P6, Microsoft Office, Bid2Win software.
