At William Charles Construction, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimating Lead to oversee the electrical estimating department. This role involves managing estimating resources, coordinating with other departments, and developing best practices for estimating. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven track record in construction estimating management.

The successful candidate must have superior communication, management, and organization development skills. They should be able to work with other department managers to meet corporate results/initiatives and ensure that employees are familiar with procedures, forms, instructions needed for communication with other departments, including familiarity with corporate limits such as the Delegation of Authority Matrix.

We offer a competitive salary of $160,000-$180,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Job Description:

  • Responsible for managing the firm's estimating activities, including pre-bid attendance, bid management, cost databases, estimating software, and implementing/improving all estimating practices.
  • Conduct project meetings/huddles to communicate project requirements, establish timelines and estimating goals, and ensure effective communication and collaboration on estimates between all disciplines and parties.
  • Work closely with the Preconstruction Manager to achieve department objectives, develop department protocol for best estimating practices, review/approve bids, specifications, drawings, and contracts.
  • Manage and continue to develop the estimating department, acting as Hiring Manager, performing weekly timesheet reviews, reviewing and approving data submitted by staff, ensuring quality of services provided by the estimating staff meets project requirements.
  • Coordinate and approve employee's request for time off, review and approve expense reports, evaluate employee's annual performance, and work with the Preconstruction Manager to establish career development and growth plans.
  • Provide monthly report of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), coordinate with Construction Operations and other company executives to help effectuate the firm's strategic planning effort, and prepare to properly turn over documents to the Construction Ops department in a timely manner.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven high-level construction estimating experience, leadership, and mentoring skills.
  • Proven management experience, a history of leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others successfully.
  • Solid presentation skills, verbal/written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of contractual requirements, conceptual estimating, design drawings, and project specifications, familiarity with industry-leading estimating software, risk assessment analysis, and estimating abilities in multiple markets and geographic locations.
  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent progressive work experience with 7+ years of estimating on construction projects or 10+ years of experience in lieu of education.
